Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules may meet the week of February 27th to grant a rule that could limit the amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 1837, the San Joaquin Valley Water Reliability Act.

Rules Committee Print 112-15 dated February 21, 2012, which is posted on the Rules Committee website.  Rules Committee Print 112-15 is identical to the text of H.R. 1837, as ordered reported by the Committee on Natural Resources on February 16, 2012.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian, the Committee on the Budget, and the Congressional Budget Office to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act. Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules may meet the week of February 27th to grant a rule that could limit the amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 2117, the Protecting Academic Freedom in Higher Education Act.  The bill was ordered reported, as amended, on June 15, 2011, by the Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Any Member wishing to offer an amendment must submit an electronic copy of the amendment and description via the Rules Committee’s website.  Members must also submit 30 hard copies of the amendment, one copy of a brief explanation of the amendment, and an amendment login form to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol by 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27th. Both electronic and hard copies must be received by the date and time specified.  Members should draft their amendments to the text of the bill as ordered reported by the Committee on Education and the Workforce, which is available on the Rules Committee website.
