To extend expiring provisions of the USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 and Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 relating to access to business records, individual terrorists as agents of foreign powers, and roving wiretaps until December 8, 2011.

Vote No. 30 (H. Res. 72)

Motion by Mr. Polis to amend the rule and provide the appropriate waivers for an amendment #2, offered by Rep. Lee (CA).  The amendment provides that in section 2, redesignate paragraphs (3) through (12) as paragraphs (4) through (13) and insert after paragraph (2) the following new paragraph: 

(3) reduce poverty and address the needs of the chronically unemployed. Defeated: 3–8.

Vote No. 29 (H. Res. 72)

Motion by Mr. Hastings of Florida to amend the rule to H. Res. 72 To make in order and provide appropriate waivers for an amendment by Rep. Hastings (FL), #3. The amendment adds a section instructing committees to make the creation of jobs their highest priority, and to report jobs legislation to the House as soon as possible. The amendment also says that the legislation is to be considered by the House under an open amendment process. Defeated 3-8.
