The Committee on Rules will meet on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 3:00 PM in H-313 The Capitol on the following measures:
- H.R. 428— Red River Gradient Boundary Survey Act
- H.J. Res. 42— Disapproving the rule submitted by the Department of Labor relating to drug testing of unemployment compensation applicants.
The Committee on Rules will meet on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 5:00 PM in H-313 The Capitol on the following measures:
- H.J. Res. 44— Disapproving the rule submitted by the Department of the Interior relating to Bureau of Land Management regulations that establish the procedures used to prepare, revise, or amend land use plans pursuant to the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976.
- H.J. Res. 57— Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to accountability and State plans under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.
- H.J. Res. 58— Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to teacher preparation issues.
Dear Colleague:
The Committee on Rules is likely to meet the week of February 6th to grant a rule that may provide a structured amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 428, the Red River Gradient Boundary Survey Act.
Any Member wishing to offer an amendment must submit a searchable electronic copy of the amendment, which should be provided by the Office of Legislative Counsel, via the Rules Committee’s website. Members must also submit 30 hard copies of the amendment, one copy of a brief explanation of the amendment, and an amendment login form to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017. Both electronic and hard copies must be received by the date and time specified. Members should draft their amendments to the text of H.R. 428, as introduced and is available on the Rules Committee website.
Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Congressional Budget Office for a preliminary assessment of their amendments’ budgetary effects. Finally, Members should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian and the Committee on the Budget to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act. - H.J. Res. 37—Disapproving the final rule submitted by the Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration relating to the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
- H.J. Res. 36—Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the final rule of the Bureau of Land Management relating to ‘‘Waste Prevention, Production Subject to Royalties, and Resource Conservation’’.
The Committee on Rules will meet on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 5:00 PM in H-313 The Capitol on the following measures:
- H.J. Res. 38—Disapproving the rule submitted by the Department of the Interior known as the Stream Protection Rule.
- H.J. Res. 41—Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of a rule submitted by the Securities and Exchange Commission relating to ‘‘Disclosure of Payments by Resource Extraction Issuers’’.
- H.J. Res. 40—Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Social Security Administration relating to Implementation of the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007.
The Committee on Rules will meet on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 5:00 PM in H-313 The Capitol on the following measure:
- H.R. 7— No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017
The Committee on Rules will meet today, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 3:30 PM in H-313 The Capitol on the following emergency measure:
- S. Con. Res. 3—Setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2017 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2018 through 2026.
The Committee will also consider the following emergency measure:
- S. 84—To provide for an exception to a limitation against appointment of persons as Secretary of Defense within seven years of relief from active duty as a regular commissioned officer of the Armed Forces.
