SUBCOMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT: Members' Day Hearing on Proposed Rules Changes for the 116th Congress

Members’ Day Hearing on Proposed Rules Changes for the 116th Congress

Dear Colleague,

I wanted to inform Members of an important hearing my subcommittee will be holding when we return from the August District Work Period.  As we have done in previous Congresses, the Rules Subcommittee on Rules and Organization of the House will hold a Members’ Day hearing on Thursday, September 13th, 2018, regarding proposed changes to the standing rules of the House.  A formal announcement to follow.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive input from Members about possible improvements to House Rules for the 116th Congress.  Members with ideas should begin working on their proposals during the District Work Period.  Although this will not be the only chance for Members to propose changes to the House Rules package for the 116th Congress, the hearing will provide a significant opportunity for Members to have their ideas heard.  I welcome your input and encourage you to bring your suggestions before the Subcommittee.

Any Member wishing to testify should submit a request to 116RulesPackage@mail.house.gov by 5:00 P.M. on Monday, September 10th.  I also ask that you submit a short summary of your proposal and any legislative text that may be available with your request to testify.  If you have any questions, please contact myself or Sally Rose Larson of my staff at Sally.Larson@mail.house.gov or 225-9893.

Sincerely,

Doug Collins
