H.R. 4078 - Red Tape Reduction & H.R. 6082 - Replacement of President Obama's Drilling Plan

Summary

H.R. 4078: This bill would freeze regulations that cost the economy $100 million or more until the unemployment rate stabilizes at or below six percent.

H.R. 6072: This bill would replace the Obama administration’s offshore oil drilling plan with one that would establish a timeline for 29 specific leases, some of which are not open for drilling under the Obama plan. Additionally, some of those leases would be conducted under the Draft Proposed Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2010-2015 as published in the Federal Register on January 21, 2009 (74 Fed. Reg. 12), rather than the 2012 plan.
