The Committee will reconvene at 1:00 PM EDT Tuesday, October 12, 2021 to report a rule on the following items:

  • H.R. 3110— PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act
  • H.R. 3992— Protect Older Job Applicants (POJA) Act
  • H.R. 2119— Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act of 2021

Note:

  • At this same meeting, the Committee will also take action on the Senate Amendment to House Amendment to S. 1301[Increase of Public Debt Limit].
  • This will be a markup-only meeting as the hearings on all above items have previously been concluded.

 

The Committee stands in recess subject to the call of the Chair.

 

 

The Committee on Rules will meet on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM EDT in H-313, The Capitol on the following measures:

  • H.R. 3110— PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act
  • H.R. 3992— Protect Older Job Applicants (POJA) Act
  • H.R. 2119— Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act of 2021

AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR

H.R. 2119 – Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act of 2021

Dear Colleague:                  

        

The Committee on Rules is likely to meet the week of September 27 to grant a rule that may provide a structured amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 2119, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act of 2021.

Any Member wishing to offer an amendment must submit a searchable electronic copy of the amendment, which should be provided by the Office of Legislative Counsel, via the Rules Committee’s website by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Please note that staff must be on the House network, either physically or remotely via virtual private network (VPN), in order to access the online submission form.

Members should draft their amendments to the text of Rules Committee Print 117-15, showing the text of H.R. 2119 as ordered reported by the Committee on Education and Labor, which is available on the Rules Committee website.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Congressional Budget Office for a preliminary assessment of their amendments’ budgetary effects. Finally, Members should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian and the Committee on the Budget to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act.
