Apr 26, 2011 Announcement

April 26, 2011

Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules is likely to meet as early as Monday, May 2, 2011 to grant a rule for the consideration of H.R. 1214, to repeal mandatory funding for school-based health center construction, which may require that amendments be printed in the Congressional Record prior to their consideration.  In order to ensure that you are able to have your amendments considered, all amendments should be submitted for printing in the Congressional Record on the legislative day of Monday, May 2, 2011

H.R. 1214 was ordered reported by the Committee on Energy and Commerce on April 5, 2011 and made available electronically on the Rules Committee website on April 26, 2011. Members should draft their amendments to the bill as ordered reported.  Also, a more detailed description of the “pre-printing” process can be found on the Rules Committee website

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian, the Committee on the Budget, and the Congressional Budget Office to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House and the Congressional Budget Act.  If you have any questions, please contact myself or Stephen Cote of the Committee staff at extension 5-9191.

Sincerely,

David Dreier
